Chapter Involvement

Interest in the 1932 marker inspired the current DRT chapter to learn more about the Burleson property.  A few chapter members went through local history archives at the San Marcos Library.  Others revisited a study published in 2003 by the Center for Archaeological Studies at Texas State University, which uncovered a number of Burleson-era artifacts.  A committee of the chapter opened a dialogue with various TxState personnel, members of city and county historical organizations, and other individuals - all to focus attention on the historical and educational value of Burleson’s San Marcos property.

The San Marcos DRT chapter is committed to a mission of increasing public awareness of the historical treasures at the Burleson homestead and engaging interested users in expressing support for the restoration and preservation of the property, with an emphasis on its historical, educational, and cultural value.
