Moon-McGehee Chapter
The Daughters of the Republic of Texas

History of Moon-McGehee Chapter
The Daughters of the Republic of Texas

Our chapter was organized September 10, 1929, at the home of Mrs. Sumner Townsend, with twenty-two charter members.  Mrs. William A Wyatt, organizing chairman, was elected first President.

The chapter was named for William Washington Moon and Thomas Gilmer McGehee, two of the first settlers of San Marcos and Hays County.

It is the 31st chapter chartered in DRT.
